Situated on the Atlantic coast of Africa, Namibia is a country of stunning contrasts, diverse landscapes and weather, and a vibrant array of sights, people, flora and fauna. Bordered by South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and Angola, it is a vast land considered by many to be “Africa's finest jewel.” The Republic of Namibia (formerly the German colony South-East Africa, later annexed by “Apartheid” South Africa) was only granted its independence by South Africa in 1990 and has become one of Africa’s showcases of democratic government.
The Trip, led by Dr. Knut Roder, will begin with a visit to the township of Soweto in South Africa, before heading towards Namibia to meet with government officials, students from the University of Namibia, the visit of an international development project, as well as, a talk with the editor of Namibia’s leading business journal to discuss the opportunities and difficulties facing investors in this part of the world. Finally, Namibia offers an incredible variety of sights and National Wildlife Parks of which some will be visited, including the Namib Naukluft Park, the Walvis Bay / Swakopmund, and the world famous Etosha Game Park.
